Returns — 15 Days

You have fifteen days. Ten rules. Nothing hidden in the small print, and nothing you need a lawyer to understand.

We would rather you own one piece you genuinely love than three you tolerate. That is the entire reason this policy exists, and it is why we have written it out in plain language instead of burying it in legal boilerplate. If something arrives and it is not right — the fit, the colour, the weight of the fabric, the way it sits on your shoulders — you have fifteen days from the day it is delivered to send it back to us.

Fifteen days is deliberate. It is long enough to live with a piece properly: to try it on twice, to hold it against the rest of your wardrobe, to sleep on the decision. It is short enough that the piece comes back to us in a state where somebody else can still fall in love with it. Below are the ten rules of the policy, each one explained in full so there is never a moment where you are guessing what we meant.

The ten rules

  1. Rule 01

    Fifteen days, counted from delivery

The window opens on the day the carrier marks your parcel delivered — not the day you ordered, not the day it shipped, and not the day you got around to opening the box. You have fifteen full calendar days from that delivery date to start your return, and starting it means writing to us and receiving a return authorisation. Weekends and public holidays are included in the count, because we would rather give you a simple number than a formula. If day fifteen lands on a Sunday and you message us that evening, you are inside the window; we look at the timestamp on your message, not the postmark. Once your return is authorised, you then have a further seven days to physically hand the parcel to a carrier, which gives you a genuine three-week runway from delivery to dispatch and removes any pressure to sprint to the post office.

  2. Rule 02

    Unworn, unwashed, and still itself

The piece must come back in the condition it left us in. That means unworn beyond trying it on indoors, unwashed, unaltered, and free of deodorant marks, makeup, fragrance, smoke, pet hair and food. Try it on the way you would in a fitting room: over clean skin or a base layer, in a clean room, with your shoes off if it is a lower body piece. We are not looking for an excuse to reject anything, and we are not going to reject a return over a single stray thread or a faint crease from the folding. What we cannot accept is a garment that has clearly been out in the world for a night — because the next person to buy it deserves the same new piece you were sent.

  3. Rule 03

    Tags and packaging stay attached

Every la*mar piece ships with a brand tag and, where applicable, a care and composition tag. Both must still be attached, and attached in the original way, with the original fastening intact. A tag that has been cut and reattached with a safety pin does not count. Keep the polybag and the outer mailer too, if you can: they are designed to be reused for exactly this purpose and they protect the garment in transit far better than a supermarket carrier bag. If the mailer has been destroyed, any rigid, sealed, waterproof packaging is fine — the requirement is protection, not aesthetics.

  4. Rule 04

Start with a message, not a parcel

Do not post anything back to us before you have written to us. Send your order number, the piece you are returning, and one honest sentence about why. We will reply with a return authorisation number and the correct address for your region — and the address genuinely does change depending on where you are, which is why unauthorised parcels sometimes arrive at a warehouse that cannot process them. Write the authorisation number clearly on the outside of the parcel and on the slip inside. Parcels that arrive without one still get handled, but they sit in a manual queue and can add ten days to your refund, which serves nobody.

  5. Rule 05

Return shipping is yours; faults are ours

For a change of mind — wrong size, wrong colour, wrong mood — the cost of shipping the piece back to us is yours to cover. We recommend a tracked service, and we insist on one for anything over $100 in value, because until the parcel physically reaches us it remains your responsibility and an untracked parcel that vanishes cannot be refunded. If, on the other hand, the return is because we sent the wrong item, sent a faulty item, or the piece was damaged in transit, then the return costs nothing: we issue a prepaid label, we cover the outbound shipping you originally paid, and we do not ask you to be out of pocket for our mistake.

  6. Rule 06

Refunds go back the way they came

Your refund is issued to the original payment method, in the original currency, without exception. We cannot refund a card that has since been cancelled, we cannot send the money to a different person, and we cannot convert a card refund into store credit at a higher value. Once your return is received we inspect it within three business days, and once it passes inspection the refund is issued within a further two. From there it belongs to your bank: most cards show the money within three to five business days, some take a full billing cycle, and international cards can take longer still. The refund covers the price you paid for the piece, including any discount that was applied, but not the original outbound shipping charge unless the return was our fault.

  7. Rule 07

    Exchanges are two clean transactions

We do not run a swap service, and that is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight. Holding a piece in reserve while another travels back across the country is how items end up sold twice and how customers end up waiting three weeks for a size medium. Instead, place a new order for the size or colour you actually want the moment you know — securing it immediately, at the price you saw — and return the original piece separately for a full refund under these same rules. The two transactions are independent, so a delay on the return never delays the replacement, and you never lose a piece to somebody faster than you.

  8. Rule 08

    Sale, archive and final-sale pieces

Anything discounted by 40% or more, along with anything explicitly marked archive or final sale on its product page, is not eligible for a refund. This is stated on the product page before you buy, it is repeated at checkout, and it is not a surprise we spring on you afterwards. What these pieces do remain eligible for is a fault claim: if a final-sale piece arrives with a broken seam, a missing button or a genuine manufacturing defect, we will repair it, replace it or refund it exactly as we would a full-price piece. A discount changes the price you pay. It does not change the standard we hold ourselves to.

  9. Rule 09

Faults are judged generously, and for a year

A fault is a failure of our making: a seam that opens under normal wear, a zip that fails, a knit that pills catastrophically within weeks, a print that lifts after a correct wash. It is not general wear, not a snag from a bag zip, not shrinkage caused by a hot tumble dry, and not fading from being left on a radiator. Real faults are covered for twelve months from delivery, well beyond the fifteen-day window, and the process is simply photographs and a description sent to us. We would rather resolve ten honest claims quickly than interrogate one, so if the fault is plausible we act on it — repair first where the piece can be saved, replacement second, refund third.

  10. Rule 10

Whatever this policy misses, ask us

No policy anticipates everything. Somebody will be travelling on day fourteen; somebody will be sent a gift they cannot exchange because they do not have the order number; somebody's parcel will be sitting in a depot two hundred miles away through no fault of their own. When your situation is not covered above, write to us and explain it in your own words. We read every message, a person answers it, and we would far rather bend a rule for a reasonable request than lose a customer over a technicality. This policy is the floor of what we will do for you, not the ceiling.

What cannot be returned

  • Pieces discounted by 40% or more, or marked archive / final sale
  • Anything worn outside, washed, altered or scented
  • Pieces returned without their original tags attached
  • Gift cards and digital items
